Box Packing Machines
Box Packing Machines
Vertical cartoning machines are automated systems that place and close products inside cardboard boxes. They are called "vertical" because the product is placed into the box from top to bottom (by gravity).
Basic working principle:
These machines generally operate in the following steps:
1. Carton feeding and opening:
Flat cartons are taken from the magazine.
They are opened by vacuum or mechanical arms to form a box.
2. Box positioning:
The opened box is placed on the conveyor in a vertical position.
The bottom flaps are usually closed beforehand or inside the machine.
3. Product feeding:
The product is brought in by a top feeding system (conveyor, dosing machine, or robotic arm).
The product is placed inside the box by gravity or by a light pushing mechanism.
4. Top closing:
After the product is placed, the top flaps of the box are closed. This process can be done with:
mechanical locking (snap-on flap),
hot glue,
or tape.
5. Output and Control
Ready-made boxes come off the conveyor belt.
Optionally:
weight control
quality control with camera
barcode control
can be done.
Where is it used?
Food: biscuits, chocolate, pasta
Pharmaceuticals: blister packaging
Cosmetics: cream, soap
Industrial products: small parts
Difference between vertical and horizontal boxing
Vertical boxing:
Product falls from the top
Ideal for free-flowing or non-delicate products
Horizontal boxing:
Product is placed by pushing from the side
Used for products that need to be arranged more precisely and neatly
Advantages
Simple and fast system
Less mechanical complexity thanks to gravity
Suitable for high production speeds
Low maintenance requirement
